#1 Kuranda via Scenic Rail and Skyrail:
Starting at Freshwater Station (only 5 minutes drive away) the Kuranda Scenic Rail and Skyrail has to be the most popular attraction in Cairns. After spending a few hours in the Kuranda Markets and maybe enjoying a spot of shopping, soar through World Heritage Listed Rainforest and glimpse incredible views out over Cairns and onto the Great Barrier Reef.
#2 The Great Barrier Reef:
You haven’t experienced Far North Queensland until you’ve visited the Great Barrier Reef. The Reef (which needs no introduction!) is home to hundreds of thousands of species of marine life and coral. Our namesake and only 5kms drive away, Crystal Cascades Waterfalls and Swimming Hole are an oasis on a hot summers day. Safe to swim and with crystal clear waters, you’ll go for a quick dip and then wonder where the day has gone!

Whether its cute and fluffy or big and scaly you’re into, you’ll find something to suit in Far North Queensland. Hartleys Crocodile Adventures is only a short 40 minutes drive through some spectacular scenery and boasts an array of animals. The regular feeding shows and boat rides will give the kids something to tell their friends about! We are also home to the worlds largest Butterfly Sanctuary in Kuranda boasting over 2000 varieties.
