Our Top 5 Family Activities | Cairns Crystal Cascades Holiday Park

Our Top 5 Family Activities

BIG4 Cairns Crystal Cascades want your stay in the North to be absolutely perfect so we’ve compiled our top 5 recommendations you may wish to experience whilst you’re here.

#1 Kuranda via Scenic Rail and Skyrail:

Starting at Freshwater Station (only 5 minutes drive away) the Kuranda Scenic Rail and Skyrail has to be the most popular attraction in Cairns.  After spending a few hours in the Kuranda Markets and maybe enjoying a spot of shopping, soar through World Heritage Listed Rainforest and glimpse incredible views out over Cairns and onto the Great Barrier Reef.

#2 The Great Barrier Reef:

You haven’t experienced Far North Queensland until you’ve visited the Great Barrier Reef.  The Reef (which needs no introduction!) is home to hundreds of thousands of species of marine life and coral.  With a wide selection of reef operators going out every day of the year there’s something for everyone, even the none swimmers!  We’re more than happy to help you find the tour for you at Reception.

#3 Crystal Cascades Water Hole:

Our namesake and only 5kms drive away, Crystal Cascades Waterfalls and Swimming Hole are an oasis on a hot summers day.  Safe to swim and with crystal clear waters, you’ll go for a quick dip and then wonder where the day has gone!

#4 Experience our wildlife:

Whether its cute and fluffy or big and scaly you’re into, you’ll find something to suit in Far North Queensland.  Hartleys Crocodile Adventures is only a short 40 minutes drive through some spectacular scenery and boasts an array of animals.  The regular feeding shows and boat rides will give the kids something to tell their friends about!  We are also home to the worlds largest Butterfly Sanctuary in Kuranda boasting over 2000 varieties.  If you’re heading to Port Douglas, Habitat is also a fantastic day out with walk through enclosures so you can hand feed the Wallabies and Emus!

#5 Get adventurous in the great outdoors:

There’s no debate that the Far North lifestyle is an outdoor one.  There’s a huge selection available including fishing, cycling or extreme sports amongst many others.  But if that’s not your style maybe we can interest you in a walk along a deserted, mile long beach or perhaps a peaceful horse ride through sugar cane fields?  Your holiday might not be quite as relaxing as you thought…
